Alternatives

TestRail alternative: Provo

Provo is a TestRail alternative for teams whose test cases start from specs and tickets. It drafts cases from a PRD, GitHub or Linear issue, traces each to the exact requirement text and lists gaps as questions. It costs $29 to $99 a month per workspace, not per user. It doesn't integrate with Jira or import automation results.

  • Essentials $22, Professional $38 (FAQ: $39) and Enterprise $78 per user a month, billed annually; Essentials is cloud only, for up to 5 users.
  • A 30-day free trial on every plan, no card; no permanent free plan.

How Provo differs

  • Priced per workspace: Starter $29 (3 seats), Team $59 (10), Business $99 (25), billed monthly.
  • Each generated case quotes the requirement it came from; code checks the quote and drops cases it can't trace.
  • Gaps in the spec become open questions instead of guessed expected results.
  • A spec diff on every new version, with cases traced to changed or removed requirements marked for review.
  • GitHub issues and pull request comments are posted only after a person confirms the exact text.

What to check before you switch

  • Whether you rely on Jira, Azure DevOps, CI results or a CLI: Provo has none of these today.
  • How you'll bring existing cases across: Provo has no case import yet; you'd start from your specs, or add cases by hand.
  • Your team size: Provo plans cap seats (3, 10 or 25) rather than charging per user.
